An important good reason why most people choose private driving instructors certainly is the cost factor. You’ll be paying as little as SGD$45 per 90 minutes session (from what I determine the internet some private approved driving instructors are providing lower rates) with a private driving instructor. And with the same driving instructor (private), you receive better pointers in terms of correcting your bad driving habits, which often increases your chances of passing.
With the mainadvantage of getting a private driving instructor to be the cost factor, the subsequent challenge you’ve is usually to hire the appropriate private driving instructor to get ready you for your practical test.
Whenever you hire and utilize a private driving instructor the very first time, there is a one-time SGD$60 (industry average) as registration fee. The problem lies herein, let’s say you make payment for the $60 registration fee and doesn’t get the right private driving instructor? You find yourself paying the registration fees for a new private driving instructor again (and you face the same risks still).
What we do here in Kukudrivers is to work with a pool of private driving instructors who definitely are good and come recommended. With regards to this, one man’s meat can be another’s posion.
Passing your Basic Theory Test is your first step in getting your driving license in Singapore.
Specifically we are talking about motor cars Class 3 / 3A / 3C / 3CA. In Singapore, you can take your driving lessons in any of the driving centres here: Bukit Batok driving centre, Comfort driving centre (ubi driving centre) and Woodlands driving centre.
Note: Class 3C / Class 3CA are new licenses issued by the Traffic Police effective 1st June 2015.
For making things simpler, despite any type of Class 3 you will have to clear your Basic Theory Test and Final Theory Test thought your Practical Driving Test differs in terms of the requirements of the type of Class 3 license you’re taking.
Whether you are going for Manual or Auto (Class 3 / 3A / 3C / 3CA licenses), the Basic Theory Test (Exam) takes place in various driving schools. When taking your Singapore driving license, you can hire a private driving instructor for your practical tests at the same time while studying for your basic theory test and final theory test. Check out the Traffic Police Singapore website for other details.
Note: It’s possible to enroll as a school student for your basic theory test at CDC even when you wish to work with private driving instructors later. The fact is we recommend you to enroll with the school when you are getting yourself ready for your Basic Theory Test.
As a student, you’ll be able to take more mock (simulated) basic theory test tests 2-3 hours prior to the actual exam. This certainly will greatly help you in clearing your Basic Theory Test.
The Final Theory Test is really a lot trickier than the Basic Theory Test in the sense that you will be supposed to know how a manual car work (clutch, brakes and accelerator) along with the different gears.
Even if you’re going for the auto car license (Class 3A), you have to clear the same Final Theory Test taken by Class 3 students (Manual and Auto).
We really feel it’s easier for you to attend at least 1 to 2 practical lessons with a manual or auto car FIRST before taking the FTT. It’s going to provide you a greater appreciation of the use of the clutch-brake-accelerator combination together with the gear. A great deal of questions in the FTT covers this.
Pay attention to how the FTT concentrates on drink driving. Applies plenty of common sense and you can clear a lot of such questions. Essentially do NOT drive after drinking!
Areas covered in the Final Theory Test:
Introduction – safe driving
Operation of vehicle controls. This covers the various fuctions on clutch, brake, accelerator and gears for example.
Basic Driving Techniques covering different safety aspects of driving.
Techniques in driving in traffic. Driving uphill and downhill and other details on navigating the traffic.
